山寺
このお寺は８６０年に開山され、仁王門から頂上の近くまで1,010の石段を登ります。五大堂からの景観は印象的です。
Yamadera
This temple was founded in 860, and 1,010 stone steps lead from the foot to near the summit with the Nio-gate and other stone monument clinging to the rocks and cliffs all the way up. The panoramic view from the Godai-do is breathtaking.

霞城公園
山形城跡はさくらで有名なこの公園に移されました。この城は焼く130年前に取り壊され、今は堀と城壁だけが残ってます。また修復された大手門（城の正門）も残されています。
Kajo Park
Former Yamagata Castle ruin was transformed into a park, which is known as a cherry blossom viewing spot, The castle was dismantled approximately 130 years ago and now only moat and stonewall remain, but the Ote-mon(the front castle gate) has been restored.

樹氷
樹氷は蔵王の冬の風物詩です。青森トドマツに繰り返し水と氷が付着してできたものです。2月の初旬から中旬に樹氷は最も大きくなり、その姿はロープウエイからも見ることができます。
Juhyo
Juhyo, a special feature of winter in Zao, are formed through moisture in the air when the Aomori Fir trees freeze and snow accumulates on them. From early to mid-February, the size becomes at its peak, and it can be seen by taking the ropeway(\2,500 a round trip.)

お釜
お釜は蔵王五色岳の頂上のそばです。約3,000年前におこった噴火で出来た火口湖です。植物も木もない荒涼とした景色の中で輝くエメラルドグリーン湖は神秘です。
Okama
Okama is located near the summit of Katta Peak in the Zao Mountain Range. It is a crater lake the was formed after a volcanic eruption which took place approximately 3,000 years ago. Among the bleak landscape, absent of trees and plants, the shining emerald-green lake is mysterious.

松が岬公園
ここは城跡が公園になったところです。かつて上杉家が統治していた上杉家ゆかりの神社などの施設が立ち並びます。周りには多くの名所もあります。加えて二月の初旬に行なわれる上杉雪の提灯まつりが行なわれるところでもあります。
Matsugasaki Park
This is a castle-ruin which has been turned into a park, and it is dotted with shrines dedicated to the lords of the Uesugi Family, who once governed the area. There are also many worthwhile sights in the surrounding area. In addtion, it is the main venue for the Uesugi Snow Lantern Festival, which takes place in mid-February.

東光の酒蔵　酒造資料館
山形県には多くの醸造所があります。そのいくつかは酒資料館として開放されています。この醸造所は”東光”という銘柄の酒を生産しています。観光客は酒造りの工程を見ることができ、試飲もできます。Toko-no-Saka-gura Sake MuseumThere are many sake breweries in Yamagata Prefecture, some of which are open to the public as Sake Museums. This brewery produces “To-ko” brand sake, and visitors can see an exhibition of sake-making tools and sample the sake.

米沢市上杉博物館

Yonezawa City Uesugi Museum
This museum centers around the history and culture of the Yonezawa Clan. There is a virtual walk in which visitors can experience the world of “Uesugi-hon Rakuchu-Rakugai-zu Byobu(folding screen)”, a national treasure, and “Yozan Theater,” in which Lord Yozan’s achievements are shown on the big screen.

Chido Museum
This museum houses many local historic constructions, including an Administrative Western-style office built more than hundred years ago, and multistoried old form house which has its entrance at the second floor, as can be seen in heavy snow areas.

鶴岡カトリック天主堂
赤い屋根と白い壁が印象的なこの教会はフランスの牧師によって建てられました。せん塔の中は世界を通しても貴重な”Black Virgin Maryの彫像”や窓にさまざまな絵を見ることができます。
Tsuruoka Catholic Church Steeple
This church was built by a French priest, and its red roof and white walls are impressive. The inside of the steeple is decorated by “The Statue of Black Virgin Mary,” a rare object throughout the world, and various paintings in the windows.

藩校致道館
この建物は１８０５年に庄内藩の藩校として建てられ、東北地方に現存する唯一の藩校です。藩校の中に当時使われた教科書や木版画などの貴重な道具が展示されています。
Clan School Chido-kan
This building was constructed as a clan school for the Shonai Clan in 1805, and it is the only. extant clan-school in the Tohoku region of Japan. In the building, important materials used in those day, including school textbooks and their wooden printing blocks, are on display.

山居倉庫
この蔵は米を貯蔵する目的で1893年に建てられ、今なお使われています。１２ある蔵の内の１つが庄内米歴史博物館で一般に公開されています。ここでは米の栽培について学ぶことが出来ます。
Sankyo-soko
These warehouses were specially built in 1893 to store rice and are still used today. There are 12 houses, one of which is open to the public as the Shonai Rice Historic Museum. Here, visitors can learn the history of rice cultivation.

相馬楼
相馬楼は江戸時代から続いている酒田の代表的な日本風レストラン”相馬屋”を改装したものです。そこには雛人形や絵画、書、古い芸術品があります。旅行客はここで、酒田の舞妓の華麗な踊りや食事、そして酒田の港町酒田の洗練された文化を体験できます。
Soma-ro
The Soma-ro is a re-modeled version of Sakata’s representative Japanese restaurant, “Soma-ya”, which had been operating since the Edo period(1603^-1867). It houses Hina dolls, paintings, writings, and antique artistic objects. Here, tourists can experience Sakata Maiko’s (junior geisha girls) gorgeous dancing and meals, and experience of port city Sakata’s stylish culture.

Domon Ken Memorial Photo Museum
Ken Domon was born in Sakata City, a world-renowned photographer who pursued realism. The museum houses approximately 70,000 of Domon’s photos donated by his family and exhibits them in regular succession.

Honma Art Museum
The museum was first built as a villa for the Honma Family in 1813, but later it was opened to the public as an art museum. It houses Japanese swords, paintings, etc, owned by the family and its Japanese garden is beautiful, reminding us of their erstwhile prosperity,

日和山公園
ここは日本海に面した酒田港を見下ろせる山腹にあります。公園にはかつて多くの海を公開した船が復元されて置かれています。ここはまた100年以上前の日本で最も古い木造の灯台があります。
Hiyori-yama Park
The park is located on a hillside overlooking Sakata Port and the Sea of Japan. In the park stand reproduction of the ships which once sailed back and forth on this very sea. The park also contains the oldest wooden lighthouse in Japan, which is more than 100 years old.

Higashizawa Rose Park
This is the largest park in Japan(7 hectares), with 20,000 plants and 700 varieties of roses blooming in a rich natural environment. When the roses reach their peak, from early June to early July, a rose festival takes place and various related events are held.

最上徳内記念館

Mogami Tokunai Memorial Museum
This museum was built in honor of the great achievements of Tokunai Mogami who came from Murayama City and explored the northern territory during the Edo period(1603-1867). The house owned by a rich local who owned land in the mountains, was moved to its present location and reminds us of the Edo period’s atmosphere.

あやめ公園
ここは野生のあやめが植えられ、ティーハウスが建てられた約90年前に開園されました。現在日本を代表するあやめ園です。6月の中旬から七月の初旬に100万本のあやめが咲きます。
Iris Park
This park had its beginnings almost 90 years ago, when wild irises were planted and a teahouse was built, Presently it boasts one of the representative iris parks of Japan, and from mid-June to early July 1 million iris flowers bloom.

くぼ桜
山形県では最も古い桜の木で、江戸彼岸種という樹齢の長い桜と言われています。この桜は、樹齢1200年、周囲9メートルと推定され、我々に長い歴史を思い出させてくれます。
Kubo-zakura
This is said to be the oldest cherry tree in Yamagata Prefecture, and is the Edo-Higan variety which lives longer. It is estimated to be approximately 1200 years old, and it is 9 meter wide, reminding us of its long history.

紅花はかつて着物を染めたり、口紅を作ったりするのに使われていました。山形は大量の紅花を生産しています。この資料館は紅花に関連するものを展示しています。観光客は昔作られていた伝統的な紅花染めを体験することが出来ます。
Safflower Museum
Safflowers were once used for dyeing Kimono and to make lipsticks and Yamagata produced them in great volume; This museum displays materials concerning safflower, and visitors can get a hands-on experience of safflower dye made in the old, traditional way.

月山夏スキー
月山のスキー場は豪雪のため冬はクローズするまれなスキー場です。雪が解け始める4月からオープンします。遅くとも7月の終わりまでスキーを楽しむことが出来ます。夏は中にはＴシャツをきてスキーを楽しむ人もいます。
Gassan Summer Skiing
The Gassan Ski area is a rare ski resort which is closed in winter due to heavy snow, and open from April when the snow melts. Skiing can be enjoyed until as late as the end of July, and in summer some skiers wear T-shirts.

月山トレッキング

Trekking
In summer, Mt, Gassan is full of trekkers heading for the shrine atop of the mountain, along the highlands where pretty alpine flowers like the yellow-colored Nikko-Kisuge bloom.

Takahata Winery
Takahata Town is well-known as a place where high-quality grapespes are produced. The facade of Takahata Winery looks like a European Castle, and visitors can see the process of wine brewing, as well as sample the wines.

川西ダリア園
日本で最初にダリア園をオープンしたところです。しかも最も大きな広さがあります。ダリアの最も見頃なのは8月から10月で、園内には50,000本、650種類もの赤や黄色の花でいっぱいになります。
Kawanishi Dahlia park
It was opened as the First Dahlia Park in Japan, and it is also the largest. The prime season for viewing flowers is from August to October, and the park is full of 50,000 red and yellow plants and 650 varieties of dahlia.

赤芝峡

Akashiba Gorge
This gorge was formed through erosion caused by the Arakawa River’s strong rapids, and its autumn colors are known for their spectacular beauty. A 1 kilometer walking path has been cleared along the stream, so visitors can enjoy walking amid the great nature.

Yana Park

ピンク、オレンジ、黄色など40種類80,000本のゆりが咲きます。6月の中旬から7月の中旬が見頃です。週末には色々なイベントが開催されます。Donden-Daira Lily ParkThe park has 80,000 lily plants in 40 varieties with colors of pink, orange, yellow, etc. The viewing season continues from mid-June to mid-July, and there will be various events taking place on the weekends.

羽黒山
麦わらぶきの屋根と赤い柱に特徴のある”さんしん神社”が頂上にある羽黒山は出羽三山のひとつです。観光客は頂上までバスで行くことが出来ますが、山のふもとから徒歩で2,446段の階段をのぼるのもお勧めです。途中には600年前に建てられたといわれている5段の塔もあります。
Mt. Haguro
Atop the mountain stands Sanshain Gosaiden (Shinto Shrine) with its characteristc thatched roof and red pillars, belonging to the Three Holy Mountains of Dewa, Visitors can take a bus to the summmit, but we recommend that you climb the 2,446 stone steps up from the foot of the mountina. On the way, there is a five-storied pagoda which is said to have been built 600 years ago.

この記念館は出羽三山のひとつである羽黒山の歴史と文化について多数展示してあります。来館者は多くの資料や立体像でその山について知ることが出来ます。羽黒山の近くにあり、そこで羽黒山について知ってから神社に登るのがお勧めです。Ideha Cultural Memorial MuseumThis museum provides plenty of information about the history and culture of Mt. Haguro, a religious mountain of the Thee Holy Mountains of Dewa and visitors can learn about the mountain through many materials and three-dimensional images. As it is located close to the front approach to Mt. Haguro, it is recommended that beginners stop by and learn about mountain ascetics before worshipping at the shrine.

Kurokawa No Play
Kurokawa No is a traditional art form handed down for more than 500 years among local residents. It is performed at the annual festivities of Kasuga Shrine (4 times a year). At the Kurokawa No Denshukan, No costumes are on display and visitors can see them at anytime.

湯殿山神社
この神社には神殿がありません。が温泉が湧き出ている巨大な岩が神の象徴として崇拝されています。今日もまだ厳しいルールがあります。参拝者は入り口で清め、はだしで参拝します。写真撮影は禁じられています。
Yudono-san Shrine
In this shrine, there’s no sanctuary space, but a huge rock formation bubbling with hot-spring water is worshipped as a symbol of the gods. There are strict rules to be followed even today, and worshippers are purified at the entrance and worship barefoot, No photos are allowed.

ここはアマゾン民族館、山葡萄研究所、文化創造間を有してる観光客の施設です。梵字川をかかっている橋ではバンジージャンプができます。
Gassan Ashahi Hakubutu-mura
This is a tourist facility which contains the Amazon Nature Hall, Mountain Grape Laboratory, and Culture Creation Hall. At the suspended bridge over the Bonji River, visitors can bungee jump.

十六羅漢岩
日本海に張り出している巨大な岩に16羅漢と6個の仏像が彫られています。羅漢は仏教の聖人であるといわれており、130年前に安全な航海のため、海での犠牲者の魂を祈るために作られたといわれています。
Ju-roku Rakan Rocks
On the huge rocks jutting into the Japan Sea, 16 Rakan statues and 6 Buddhist statues are engraved into the stone. Rakan is said to have been a Buddhist Saint and these statues are said to have been made in order to pray for the souls of victims died in the sea and for a safe voyage almost 130 years ago.

Mt. Chokai
Mt. Chokai is called Dewa-Fuji because of its beautiful shape, and it attracts many climbers. In summer season, the bus in available as fast as the 5th station, from there if weather permits, one can get a clear view of the coastline and the islands dotting the Japan Sea.

Onogawa Hot Springs
This hot spring resort is located in the mountains, and is known as the homeland of firefly. From late June to early July visitors can seen fireflies flying here and there with a faint glow. This is one sign that the environment here is clean.

Semi Hot Springs
The public baths located at Semi Hot Springs, are a rare type of steamed bath, in which bathers do no soak in the hot springs, but lay down on the floor covered with 20cm holes while wearing “Yukata” (light cotton kimono), and warm themselves with the hot steam emitted from under the floor.

Akakura Hot Springs
This hot spring bubbles up at the upper Oguni River, a clean stream sweetfish can be found in the summer. Therefore, it is an ideal location for fishing, and for skiing in the winter.
